Now, I know I like to make a big thank you speech. In fact, I like giving speeches! Well, I like to TALK TALK TALK in general hahaha!! However, today I realized I forgot TWO most important people who I should REALLY thank! And that's my parents!
I'm not just saying this because they are my parents and they deserve the obligatory thank you. My parents REALLY have been extremely supportive of this small cake business of mine. So supportive that my father would actually be up at 4am with me helping with baking. He'd be there to clean up (to give me more work space.... or he simply hates clutter! hehehe!), he'd be there to keep my sanity when what I'm working out doesn't turn well (such as burnt cupcakes). My dad's also been my, er, assistant shopper (he buys the ingredients for me everytime! Poor him. He's practically in Hua Ho everyday! Hahahah!) and he has always bought me things he think I might need (like pretty new cupcakes liners, pretty boxes, stencils...). YUP. THANK YOU PAPA! :D
As for my mom, she has been my quality control unit. She would point out which cupcake is too overdressed (tacky) and which needs more schpreenkls! She's also my creative director and come up with all these amazing new ways to decorate! She really has a hand in decorating. Without my mom, my cupcakes will just look blah.
I am so incredibly thankful for their support. A lot of people think that I am wasting my time with baking and this business. But my parents have never complained and I am so grateful for that. A lot people think I cannot do a lot of things. But my mom always tells me never to say "I don't know". She always believes in learning what you don't know.
So, this post is dedicated to my beloved parents. I am offering simple fondant decorations starting today, a technique which involved a lot of money (I did not have), time, patience (and an almost broken mixer!) to learn. :D
ps I salute all bakers who decorate with fondant! Please also note that the sample fondant deco shown here (except for the teapot and cups) are not original inspirations (how I wish I'd thought of these!) I am happy to create simple fondant deco based on requests or sample pictures :D
