Yummy Coconut Bars

When I was still in uni, I would mooch off my housemate's Tesco's Coconut Macaroons. They were fairly cheap yet lovely and they made me feel like an old English lady hehehe... Anyhoo... I came back to Brunei and could not find anything similar ANYWHERE! I know there's a local alternative but I had it when I was like three years old so I don't know how it should look like or what it's called. I also have my doubts about Bounty Bars so that's not an option.

So, the only solution is to make some myself!!! And they come in cute bite-size cubes instead of flat macaroons. AND coated with dark chocolate... Mmm... If you're a coconut freak (LIKE ME), I really recommend these! :D

Red Velvet with Cream Cheese

Hellewww!

I think that Red Velvet Cupcakes are those that fall into the category of "beautiful" cupcakes and very adult, in my opinion. No cute sprinkles whatsoever. I love how RED they are. Especially when they are dressed in silver couture. ;) Anyway... these beauties are quite dense in texture, but not chewy and they taste similar to Kuih Apam which, in my opinion, is the Asian version of cupcakes (AND my favorite of all! Especially the sweet pink white ones hehe!).

Sundae Cupcakes

The reason I named these Vanilla Cupcakes with Cream Cheese Frosting is because of the way they look like those ice cream sundaes! Hehehe.. Now, many of us may not be familiar with cream cheese and might be slightly weirded out by its combination with Vanilla Cake! Now, now kids... not too worry. This isn't the kinda cheese that you find in your McD hamburgers! NOT that those cheese slices are bad. However, Cream Cheese that I use to frost my Vanilla Cupcakes (and Red Velvet) taste just right with cakes! Why, it even has a hint of lemon that you might even forget about cheese! :D Give it a try and you'll find out :D

Glace Cupcakes

Hi all!

Here's a little info on glace cupcakes! Basically, glace is the frosting which has a hint of lemon in it. There are two recommended cake base which are Lemon and Vanilla. Happy ordering! :D

Happy Birthday Teacher Aisah

When I finished piping the lettering on these cupcakes, a memory from 1997 played like a movie in my mind. A horror, traumatising one that is. There I was sitting happily in Bahasa Melayu class after handing in what I believed was my best penmanship. I was glowing because I knew I did not have the best handwriting but that one piece I just submitted to Teacher Naimah was an ARTWORK.

Suddenly, Teacher Hajah Naimah began to announce something to the whole class. "Everybody, these students have beautiful handwriting which should all be an example to you." I was smiling ear to ear. I KNEW it was me.

 "Ratna Dewi and Hasmini."

BOINK!! I was devastated. My beautiful penmanship! My work of art! From then on, I started writing in round, giant shapes (dotted my "i" with a circle. Even my "l" was round!) and slanted 45 degrees to the right, just like Dewi And Minnie.

I have never had beautiful handwriting. BUT nevertheless, I hope Teacher Aisah thought my penmanship was a Picasso on cupcakes. :D Hehehe...

THANK YOU MAMA AND PAPA!

Now, I know I like to make a big thank you speech. In fact, I like giving speeches! Well, I like to TALK TALK TALK in general hahaha!! However, today I realized I forgot TWO most important people who I should REALLY thank! And that's my parents!

I'm not just saying this because they are my parents and they deserve the obligatory thank you. My parents REALLY have been extremely supportive of this small cake business of mine. So supportive that my father would actually be up at 4am with me helping with baking. He'd be there to clean up (to give me more work space.... or he simply hates clutter! hehehe!), he'd be there to keep my sanity when what I'm working out doesn't turn well (such as burnt cupcakes). My dad's also been my, er, assistant shopper (he buys the ingredients for me everytime! Poor him. He's practically in Hua Ho everyday! Hahahah!) and he has always bought me things he think I might need (like pretty new cupcakes liners, pretty boxes, stencils...). YUP. THANK YOU PAPA! :D

As for my mom, she has been my quality control unit. She would point out which cupcake is too overdressed (tacky) and which needs more schpreenkls! She's also my creative director and come up with all these amazing new ways to decorate! She really has a hand in decorating. Without my mom, my cupcakes will just look blah.

I am so incredibly thankful for their support. A lot of people think that I am wasting my time with baking and this business. But my parents have never complained and I am so grateful for that. A lot people think I cannot do a lot of things. But my mom always tells me never to say "I don't know". She always believes in learning what you don't know.

So, this post is dedicated to my beloved parents. I am offering simple fondant decorations starting today, a technique which involved a lot of money (I did not have), time, patience (and an almost broken mixer!) to learn. :D

ps I salute all bakers who decorate with fondant! Please also note that the sample fondant deco shown here (except for the teapot and cups) are not original inspirations (how I wish I'd thought of these!) I am happy to create simple fondant deco based on requests or sample pictures :D

Teeny-Tiny Cakes

Remember these cuties? :D I've been having positive feedback on these and inquiries on the price. I apologize for taking so long on setting the price.. I have been chained to the kitchen! Hehehe.. Anyhoo.... I enjoy making these cuties and I am planning to have more variety of these Teeny Tiny Cakes (like chocolate..?). These Teeny Tiny Cakes are vanilla flavored with white chocolate and dark chocolate coating. I really recommend these for picnics or parties, particularly if you are focusing more on serving finger food. :D

Poll results

Hello boys and girls!!

Remember I put up a poll about the appropriateness of my pricing as compared to my cupcake size? Well, the results came in and 100% (!!!!) who voted chose "yes" (appropriate). Thank you to those who took the time to vote. Truthfully, I felt happy that those who voted were happy with my pricing. Nonetheless, I have decided to increase the size of my cupcakes without increasing the price as well. I mean, bigger cupcakes are cuter anyway hehehe... So, thanks again everyone for your support! I am so happy!!!!!! :D

I am willing to improve Pip Pops in terms of cupcakes and service. But I need your help. Please, you will do me a great favor if you leave me a comment/sms/email about my cupcakes and service. Compliments are much appreciated but honest reviews and opinions are more invaluable to me. :D

Thank you! I love you guys! :D
